After two years of streaming-only events, the XBIZ Awards came back live and with a vengeance in 2022. This ceremony plays homage to the best in porn, plays host to the industry’s biggest stars, and, this year, played out in person at the Hollywood Palladium in California. Hosted by Maitland Ward, the event in January handed out 66 awards from best director to best web services company, and one recipient of more than one gong was Wicked Pictures.
A Wicked Win For Wicked Pictures
Wicked has a long history of winning awards. Between 2011 and 2019, it won 95 AVN Awards, including a Hall of Fame for Axel Braun, and since 2008 has won over 57 XBIZ awards. Add to that its 38 X-rated Critics Organisation honours, and you can clearly see why it’s a frontrunner in the porn world. The questions are; what is Wicked, and what does it have to make it so deserving of such industry praise?
Wicked Pictures was set up back in 1993 in Canoga Park, California, and from the outset, it was clear it wasn't going to be just another porn house pumping out wham-bam hardcore for the masses. I’ll come back to that claim in a moment. First, I wanted to take a closer look at the awards Wicked won at XBIZ 2022, and number one on the list was a pretty coveted statue to take home.
